Most industrial problems get split across a dozen vendors \u2014 one for the instrumentation and controls, one for the operational network, one for the software, none of them responsible for the whole. We challenge the idea that these vendors can produce real meaningful results without tying facilities to their ecosystem. We strive to be ecosystem-agnostic, instead fostering accountability, and creating systems for YOUR facility. We strive to communicate with you in your language, not ours. We do not halt production due to vendor-imposed miscommunications, and we believe you shouldn't have to either.

The Path to the Panel

Halcyon Control Systems is the work of one person who took the long way on purpose. I am that person. The foundation for me started as a passion, a trade. I started firstly as a welder and fabricator, learning how to read blueprints, how to work with my hands, and how to solve problems that aren't in a manual. I learned how to make things, design things, fix things. I learned how to make what was broken work again, and I got hooked. But there was something that drove me to leave, and it took me a long time to figure that out. I realized that I was fascinated by how a greater system can work together. Welding was fun, but it spilled over into an over-arching desire of mine. How things were designed, how things were built, how things were maintained. I wanted to understand how all the parts worked together, and have a piece in making them more efficient. I had always dreamed of building my own version of this machine, or that machine. What I had longed for that entire time was learning the fundamentals of how machines were created, how they were engineered. And so I did that. I went to school again, getting not only my industrial maintenance degree, to finish out what I had grown used to exploring, but also a degree in Industrial & Systems Engineering. I found that what drives me is the intersection of design and the creation of the designs, and efficiency is my obsession. To build a machine is one thing, to build one that works well, that works efficiently... that's the challenge. Now, I can't build every machine, but given my background, I can build the systems that make them co-operate.

Anti-Engineer's Paradox

We pride ourselves on being capable of solving the hardest problems, which seem to not be designing systems around technical constraints, but around the actual people who maintain them. We don't just design systems for just KPIs, production goals, or an ideal version of facility operability. We also design them for the real people who will operate and maintain them. Those whose hands will touch the machines, repair the panels. We design them, and implement them ourselves first. We make sure that they are actually maintainable in the physical world.

We don't do handoffs. When you work with us, we take the initiative. We don't pull you into an ecosystem with fifteen other vendors and integrators, design your system, and then bounce when we're done. We work with you, design with you, and we build it ourselves. We take accountability from start to finish, and we stand behind your systems long after the build is done. We don't want to just be your integrator, we want to be your partner.
